The German School.

Objectivism: step back from it, being uninvolved, telling the story how it is, the truth, document. Examples of photographers: Catier Bresson, Ruff.

Subjective: being emotionally involved with the image, examples of photographers: Goldin, Frank, Eggleson, Day, Clark

Ruff studied at a photography school in Germany called Dusseldorf.

The head teacher of the school is also a photographer called Beche.

Juergen Teller.

He is a life style and fashion photographer, also he is based in London. His style of photography is very German at least in approach, they are romantic and very direct, his favourite photos are ones that tell a story.

He likes his photos to not be an art process, you just simply observe.

The elements in his photos are line, composition and structure

Karl Blossfeldt

A scientist photographer, would take photos of different seeds and plants. He put them in to a book and it was the best selling book.

August Sander

He took portraits of loads of different people.

There is nothing better then photographer to give a faithful historical photo, but it can also lie to you as well. He also apologises if his photos are not done right.

Before WW1 he was a portrait photographer, during the war he was a soldier and after the war he became a commercial photographer.

Bernd and Hilla Becher.

They produced industrial and architectural images, they traveled around a lot to get photos of the same things but in different places. They like to order and compare their images, the photos are also left the way they are when they get taken. Most of their photos are the same, just slightly different. Also the images look dull on their own.

Thomas Ruff

He took portraits with the same background and same lighting. He says that photography lies, its more about the technique and devices used to create the images. Photography can only show you the surface of something, you cant dig deeper.

Thomas Demand

He makes models of things, so everything you see in his photos are lies because they are all made out of paper and cardboard.

What we know about the world is what we see in front of us.

Thomas Struth

He takes photos of people looking at famous images in galleries, looking at a way of living in society. He also takes photos of urban spaces and sometimes he takes portraits of people looking at the camera.

Andreas Gursky

He plays with his photos in photoshop and adds different photos together, he says he used the method of a painter. He travels around a lot to get his photos. He loves his sports events especially the F1 racing. He also takes landscape photos, all of his photos have structure as well.
